The location of the video output port varies per Mac model, but it’s usually on the right-side of the MacBook Air, the left side on the MacBook Pro, and it’s always on the back of the iMac and Mac Mini. I want to get a Mac mini 2016 but need to use two displays, the displays have hdmi and vga ports but I can't see an adapter that will do this.
A 2008 Mac mini as a home theater PC demonstrating the application. Current models include an HDMI port for easy connection with modern televisions and home theater receivers. It can be classified as a (HTPC) with some. The Mac mini does not include an integrated and cannot be upgraded to install one internally; accessing TV requires external devices like 's EyeTV USB adapter or SiliconDust's networked TV tuner which will encode and manage broadcast television from a cable or satellite receiver. The July 2011 model lacks a built-in CD/DVD player and OS X Lion no longer supports remote control software.
I then found that the CD supplied wouldn't play on the Mac CD player and when read on my PC laptop turned out not to have any Mac OSX drivers! However, the manual informed me that it's Plug and Play and compatible with OSX, and on booting up a second time everything was working. I've read about some problems with HDMI but it's running well for me on HDMI. The has been outstanding.
Don't confuse a USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 port with USB only as the new MacBook Pro do have thunderbolt and not simply USB-C. The new MacBook Pro can output to a Mini DisplayPort target display mode compatible Mac with either a cable that connects directly or an adapter to the existing cable you would have used with the Mac. I would probably go with a USB-C to MiniDisplayport and use the display port over USB-C protocol since that cable is less expensive than a thunderbolt adapter and would also work with a MacBook (non Pro and non Thunderbolt) or other USB only device. There's probably no speed benefit of thunderbolt for this application.

Apple’s Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter can pass through any Thunderbolt 2 data and it works with the new MacBook Pros. That includes supporting the Apple Thunderbolt Display. The Cinema monitors with just DisplayPort support can’t work with the Thunderbolt 2 adapter, because they don’t wrap DisplayPort signals inside of the Thunderbolt 2 specification, so the data doesn’t pass over the adapter. However, it’s still just DisplayPort. If you could obtain a USB-C adapter with a Mini DisplayPort jack in it, you can use an Apple Cinema Display with DisplayPort on a MacBook Pro with USB-C. But there may still be a problem with 12-inch MacBooks. The folks at Nonda used Kickstarter to crowdfund the Hub+ back in 2015 to bring a full-featured dock that would have Mini DisplayPort for Apple Cinema Displays, passthrough power, and other features.

If I move the cursor on the iPad to the location on the black bar where a menu item should be (i.e., the Apple icon, File, Edit, etc) and select I will get the dropdown menu, but it is trial and error trying to find the right icon (since it is obviously black text on black background). Even the aspects of the app that do work have extreme lag, again making this app virtually unusable. I really wanted this app to be as good as some of the reviews state, but for me it will be deleted. I just wish I could get back the wasted $9.99 I just spent on it. It might work in other instances for people with different Apple computers and/or different needs, but for me it was a waste. Jday7757 Very Poor With Retina iMac I bought Air Display 3 for the sole purpose of being able to use my iPad Air 2 as a wireless mirrored display for my Retina iMac.
As of this morning, the LG 5K Display listing on Apple's website does indeed feature a 'Ratings & Reviews' section. Looking back at archived web information from 2016 and early 2017 confirms that the LG 5K Display listing never displayed rating or review details, and if Apple were censoring reviews, the company also likely would have put an end to lukewarm reviews for the 4K LG UltraFine Display. The 4K display store listing has offered reviews since it became available for purchase.
Editor's note: If you are trying to connect an Apple LED Cinema Display to a USB-C MacBook or MacBook Pro, you should. Roger Harrop wrote in with a question that is on many, many of your minds, based on the email and Twitter queue: I have just taken delivery of an impressive shiny new MacBook Pro, but I don’t seem able to get my Apple Cinema Display () to work with it.
Can you be more specific, Aaron? Which computer did you use, and which monitor? If a CinemaDisplay, which year? I’m going to give this a try (2011 Cinema Display – mini Displayport) with a 2017 MacBook Pro (thunderbolt 3). I’m seeing a lot of comments from people saying it isn’t working on their Thunderbolt monitors. But that was never the intention of the article, and the adapter mentioned here, on Amazon’s description, clearly says it won’t work. So why people keep trying to use this for their TB3 monitors is beyond my comprehension.
No combination seems to work. If you are in the same boat as I am, with a second computer with DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort out and you want to use the iMac as an external display, you’ll have to wait for a DisplayPort to Thunderbolt adapter to come to market.
Pre-2009 Mac mini models had a video connector which was compatible with, (video only),, and with the appropriate adapter. Sound is provided by a combination jack that uses both mini- (analog) and cables (digital).
That’s why the Luna Display turns any iPad into a second monitor. It works wirelessly. [embedded content] But the team behind the device tried a fun experiment. Many Mac Mini users tend to use the Mac Mini as a headless server.
