Irrespective of whether you're on a Mac or PC, it is not advisable to open files from unknown sources or any files downloaded via email or on the Internet that seem suspicious.

Before you throw your copy of Office 2011 out of the window, there are a few issues to discuss. Office 2016 for Mac is still in preview, and it's not totally stable. I didn't need to force close anything, but there were definitely some stutters, and a few cases where Excel in particular was using way more RAM and CPU power than it should've.
